Our prayers go out to family, fans and friends. May he live forever through his art.
"You can shed tears that he is gone,
or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all he's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember only that he is gone,
or you can cherish the memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what he'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on."
or you can smile because he has lived.

The defining artist of our generation. Most of us grew up to your songs, they remain timeless. R.I.P

When I think about it, IMO MJ was the most iconic and influential artist of the last century...which might make him of all time.
Some other greats might have arguably better catalogues, arguably better musical artistry or sold more records..... but in terms of bridging all sorts of racial, age, geographical, musical etc divides, there is/was none like Michael.
from Malawi to Malaysia, New York to Guandong (China)...pretty much everywhere in the world, they knew, danced to and respected his body of work. From rap fans to gothic fans, from dancehall fans to classical music fans... everyone took notice and acknowledged the fact that he was an undoubtedly talented artist.
From lil Kim the NY rapper to lil Kim the North Korean dictator (the fool wanna be starting sumthin...pun intended), we've all bumped and jived to at least one of his tracks.
And obviously he has influenced pretty much all the artists in our new generation in one way or another...
Furthermore, for all his flaws, one thing was certain, he took his job of entertaining us very seriously. This is obvious when we look at his timeless and super creative body of work...singles, albums, dvds, concerts and more.
Finally, his singing, his writing, his innovation, his whole artistic package as an entertainer is extremely unique...more than any of the other all time greats. There was never anytime when I could say oh I thought that was a Mike song without it being an actual Mike song. His sht was too unique and too "era-defining", there will never be another Mike, nothing close... and we know it.
This is why this is such a huge deal.
